ONCE UPON A TIME AMERICA, 2004 - 3.5 minutes

A video performance consisting of four hallucinatory sequences of the artist firing into what appears to be her own reflection, the 3.5 minute looping video was shot with a Digital 8 camera placed on a flowerpot in an Edenic woods near Ghent, New York. The outtakes of this artwork were first shown publicly outside of the United Stated in Taipei as part of the (Art Critics Association) AICA 2004 World Congress in Taiwan, December 3, 2004. Stefan Stux Gallery, NYC, was the first American venue of this work in the solo show, Margaret Evangeline, Shot Through; New Paintings,April, 2005.

STILETTO, 2005 - 2 minutes

A video performance integrates the artists private working space and process with the group dynamics of a fashion photo shoot. Wearing a pair of Stella Mcartney stiletto heeled dress shoes, the artists punctures foil-faced insulation with bullet casings, fire and heel marks. This subtle corporeal violence acknowledges the processes of Abstract Expressionist paintings, and the visual fun of pop culture. A fashion editorial for the April, 2003, issue of Interview Magazine is being shot at the same time in the artists studio by photographer Lee Jenkins. Dissonant visual and audio cues of that event provide subtle indications of the choices made daily in the artists studio, crossing fated boundaries between art, pop, culture, and social angst.
